FRANZ Ferdinand has announced that they will be playing a number of Scottish venues they have 'never been before'.

Frontman Alex Kapranos posted a video to the band's social media telling fans that they will be "starting off their live shows with a few gigs around Scotland."

In the video which was shared to Facebook, Instagram and X, Kapranos told fans to "keep their eyes open" for further details on gig dates and venues.

And in the process, he also made a slight jab at social media influencers.

He said: "Hi it's Alex, speaking very quietly because I'm in an Airport and don't wanna look too much like an influencer or some other kind of f*nny.

"But I'm very excited because, well, we can tell you all now that we're going to be starting our live shows with a few gigs around Scotland in some places that we've never been before.

"So keep your eyes open and you'll see some further news in this kind of medium."

Fans flocked to the comments to react to the news.

One wrote: "Savings? Gone, they already got your name on it".

Another commented: "Speaking quiet because if someone listens he could scream".

A third added: "YEESS the news I’m here for!!"

This comes after the Glasgow band posted a cryptic message on social media earlier in the week ahead of the announcement.

Fans went wild for the news and many were speculating a surprise gig from Franz Ferdinand at TRNSMT this weekend.

Tour dates have yet to be confirmed, more details of the upcoming Scots gigs will follow on Monday 15 July.
