PAIGE SPIRANAC has leapt to the defence of Rory McIlroy following his US Open collapse.
The Northern Irish golfermissed out on his first Major in a decadeasBryson DeChambeausnatched victory.
McIlroy,35, bogeyed three of the last four holes to see his lead slip away and his chances of winning fall.
As the final ball dropped, he made his exit from the Pinehurst Resort.
A video was caught of him driving away after reportedly refusing to do an interview.
However,Paige,31, has defended the golfer and insisted that he should be given a "break".
She wrote: "Hot take but I don’t care when athletes do this.
"He gave us everything he had on the course and gave us such an entertaining day.
"I feel forRoryright now and can’t even imagine how he’s feeling.
"Cut him a break."
Many of Paige's followers agreed with her as they flooded the comment section.
One posted: "Yeah, no biggie. He’s obviously upset with his play today… He has every right to be done and not want to talk."

Six-time Major winner Sir Nick Faldo claimed thatMcIlroy will be haunted forever after his collapse.
He said on Sky Sports: "That's going to haunt Rory for the rest of his life, those two misses."
