Lawyers for FKA Twigs have filed a motion condemning Shia LaBeouf’s request for her private records,Peoplereports. The news comes ahead ofLaBeouf’s sexual-assault and battery trialover a 2020 lawsuit where Twigs allegedthe actor“relentlessly” abusedher. Court documents filed on Monday, June 24, at the Los Angeles Superior Court argued that LaBeouf’s attorneys are “improperly seeking Plaintiff’s private financial and medical information that has no bearing on the issues in this case.” His team has failed to explain why Twigs’s “medical history, unrelated to her emotional distress or the condition transmitted to her by” the actor is necessary, lawyers argued. “Furthermore, the requests are overbroad and burdensome,” the filing read. “As such, Defendant is not entitled to this highly private information.” Twigs’s lawyers said the “Cellophane”singer has already submitted a psychotherapy exam and 1,300 pages of additional documents for her upcoming trial, scheduled for October 14.

Twigs’s attorneys are blasting LaBeouf for his request of financial information from 2017 to the present in addition to her medical records. His team’s “assertion that Plaintiff has somehow waived her financial privacy rights by seeking emotional distress damages is not supported by any case law,” Twigs’s lawyers argue in the filing, calling the request a “significant invasion of privacy.”

Her legal team believes that LaBeouf is continuing his “pattern” of abuse. “While my client was led to believe that LaBeouf was on a path of taking responsibility and working a program, it is clear he intends his pattern of continuing to abuse the victim,” Twigs’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, adds in a new June 27 statement. “Any suggestion that FKA Twigs’s emotional distress should be discounted because of any career success is preposterous and discounts the idea that victims should have hope for the future. Logically, without the trauma that she has suffered I can only imagine the level of success she would have achieved by now.”
