Seret film ID (P12791) Incorrect

[edit]

I have incorrectly placed wrong link on property proposal which is for movies reviews and not for movie page.https:// seret.co.il/movies/s_movies.asp?MID=$1vshttps:// seret.co.il/critics/moviereviews.asp?id=$1(wrong). There are 51 links for this property which need fi xing. I think I would request opening of another property for Seret reviews. How can I fix those wrong links?רונאלדיניו המלך(talk)16:45, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Seems like you already found the solution.Sjoerd de Bruin(talk)16:49, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I have corrected the link format on property itself but it doesn't work. Die Another DayTemplate:Q30931movie id is 1013 and it still links to movie review. Maybe there will be some time to server to update?רונאלדיניו המלך(talk)16:51, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, there is some cache in place that takes time to update.Sjoerd de Bruin(talk)16:58, 14 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Publish added child won't publish

[edit]

I've tried to add an additional child to David Urquhart, with ODNB reference with page URL, but the child's name reains in a pink box and the info won't publish. The child died at 13 months and is often omitted (including original DNB entry) but there are also numerous newspaper articles on his inquest. Why wont it recognise the child's name or publish? (my first attempt after reading tutorials)Ishpoloni(talk)09:41, 17 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello @Ishpoloni. The "pink box" indicates there's an issue with the data you entered. It's possible that the child you’re trying to add doesn’t have an existing Wikidata Item, which may prevent the information from being saved. To resolve this, you'll need to create a new Wikidata Item for the child first. Once you've created the item, you can use the new Item as the value for the child statement.

Display label in French UI for iso:gsw language is incorrect

[edit]

The French interface showsallemand suissefor iso:de-ch.
(this is not our focus) The French interface showssuisse allemandfor iso:gsw.
This latter is incorrect.
The French interface should displayalémanique(gsw).
The English interface already displaysAlemannic(gsw).
Other languages interfaces also displays translations ofAlemannic.

See this gallery for current state (left:incorrect) and desired state (right:correct):

Where can we correct this? Where to change the code? Where to open a phabricator ticket? cc:User:Le Commissaire(native speaker),User:VIGNERON.Yug(talk)11:35, 21 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @Yug,thank you for your detailed description and the screenshots illustrating the issue with the French interface. It's not immediately clear where this configuration needs to be adjusted, but I have created a Phabricator ticket so we can investigate further. You can track ithere.Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE)(talk)08:51, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you @Mohammed Abdulai (WMDE)for creating the ticket. I have submitted a local patch for CLDR some minutes ago:Gerrit:1049993(pending review).
@ native French speakers: Could someone pleasecreate a ticket upstream?Thanks.Raymond(talk)17:04, 26 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Can't escape English

[edit]

Hi! For the second or third day now I can't change my interface language on Wikidata to any other but English. I select in the menu on top of the page, the page reloads but it's still English, no matter what I selected. The situation is the same in two different browsers.Flipping Switches(talk)11:15, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I can’t reproduce this (switching interface language works for me), but it sounds like the same issue asT368595.Which page are you on, and which other language are you trying to switch to? --Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE)(talk)12:19, 28 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Lucas Werkmeister (WMDE),the same happens on all Wikidata pages. But it seems, I figured out what happens. First when it happened few days ago, I was on some QNNN page and switched language on top to English to see how all properties are named. Then after a browsing for a while I switched back to Ukrainian - but the effect was as described in OP. And now what happens: I check here on Wikidata my Global Preferences and there the language is set Ukrainian by me. But the moment I select ANY language, including Ukrainian, in the top menu (which is on the left to my account link) on any Wikidata page, it sets English as the "local exception for this global preference" if I check the Preferences page again. So I can "uncheck" this local exception to fix the problem once. But I still can't change language back and forth from the top menu. Firefox and Edge are the browsers where the issue is spotted, didn't try any other. —Flipping Switches(talk)08:24, 29 June 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Q5296 is busted, may need manual fix

[edit]

Hello,

I clicked on a Wikidata item link on an English Wikipedia article a few days ago, and it somehow directed to entirely the wrong item,Q5269which blew up. After waiting a bit, the English Wikipedia backlink went to the correct Wikidata item. However, this 5269 option appears to still be malfunctioning when visited on the website - it still throws an error. Perhaps there's some invalid, impossible relation in the DB that needs to be unrolled by a dev? Is this the right place to report this, or should I go to Phabricator?SnowFire(talk)19:24, 13 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Which English Wikipedia article? What is the link text? Also, the title mentions Q5296,but the report mentions Q5269.Could you make it clear? --Matěj Suchánek(talk)13:49, 14 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It wasQ:5296- just a typo from typing from memory. I see it's now loading for me after I complained as "Wikimedia main page" (I had no idea what this item was before). The article I clicked from wasen:Gertrude Bell, but maybe it was from a switched tab that was on the English Wikipedia front page? I mean, I don't think itwasand that wasn't my recollection, but that'd explain it. (As for why it blew up, and why it's fixed now - that part of the question might still be relevant.)SnowFire(talk)01:20, 15 July 2024 (UTC)[reply]
