The Seminar on Ophthalmology for Developing Countries, endorsed by the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China, organized by Shenyang Normal University, and supported by He Eye Specialist Hospital, has recently concluded. During the 21-day training, 25 students from seven countries including Nepal, Nigeria, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Mexico, and Colombia experienced a new blend of technology and culture, craftsmanship, and innovation.
During the training of ophthalmic diagnosis and treatment technology, the team of He Eye Specialist Hospital focused the needs of eye health development in the digital age, and taught innovative technologies with strong practical applications and diagnostic concepts suitable for the national conditions of developing countries. Experts and scholars from the He Eye Specialist Hospital and the Liaoning He University conducted lectures, special seminars and surgical skills training on the application and prospects of digital healthcare in eye health and the use of intelligent medical devices in developing countries.
During the training, the trainees visited Eye Gene Bank, a genetic resource library for eye diseases and related chronic disease genetic resource library, and the School of Vision Science training center, one of Liaoning’s first modern industry schools. They also visited medical practice teaching center, library, and other places, and participated in rich research and study activities in Shenyang and Beijing, experiencing the historical culture, natural scenery, and technological innovation charm of these two Chinese cities.
