Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing Hold a Meeting to Discuss Key Projects and Initiatives

On the afternoon of May 23, the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing convened a meeting to address flood season meteorological support services and deploy relevant tasks. The meeting also discussed key initiatives including the revision of management methods for 2024, job performance appraisal, and recruitment. Institute director Miao Shiguang presided over the meeting, with attendance from lead researchers and chief research fellows.

The meeting included a mobilization for flood season meteorological support services and the deployment of related tasks. The directors and team members of various business subsystems under the RMAPS system were instructed to enhance refined numerical forecasting services, strengthen on-duty guard, and maintain stable and orderly flood season services. The institute conveyed the requirements of the Beijing Meteorological Service's 2024 work priorities for safe production, and emphasized the significance of safety and cybersecurity. It was emphasized that all employees must prioritize safety protection and assurance in meteorological services and emergency management, strengthen safety inspections, and strictly implement the responsibility system for job positions.

Key reports were presented on the revision of the 2024 management methods, job performance appraisal schemes, and recruitment initiatives. This year's revision work includes regulations and eight management systems while abolishing one management system, mainly involving job appraisal, scientific and technological achievements transformation, research project management, meeting management, and training management. Furthermore, to further implement the "Four Orientations" strategy and the "Three Assessments" guiding principles for China's scientific and technological development proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing, plans to conduct job performance appraisals and recruitment based on optimizing disciplinary layout and the compatibility of personnel and positions. The attendees discussed the key aspects of the management system revision, job appraisal, and recruitment work plan during the meeting.

Following the meeting, the Institute will refine and improve related content based on the opinions and suggestions of its members. They will commence performance appraisals, and recruitment efforts, fostering system establishment to ensure the smooth progress of the institute's various projects and initiatives.
