Organized by the China Meteorological Society and the Haihe River Basin Meteorological Center, and hosted by the Tianjin Meteorological Service, Tianjin Meteorological Association, and Tianjin Binhai New Area Meteorological Service, the 8th Haihe River Basin Weather and Climate Forecasting and Prediction Technology Exchange Meeting was held in Tianjin Binhai New Area from May 27 to 30, 2024. Associate researcher Huang Chengcheng from the Institute of Urban Meteorology, CMA, Beijing (IUM) attended the meeting, along with over 100 research and operational personnel from meteorological departments nationwide.

At the sub-forum on basin rainstorm forecasting technology and application analysis, Huang Chengcheng delivered a report titled Coupling Dynamic Wave Equation with Land Surface Model and Application to Zhengzhou “7·20” Rainstorm. This paper, already published in the journal Chinese Science Bulletin in 2023, garnered significant attention from the attendees.

By participating in this meeting, IUM's researcher gained a deeper understanding of the current state of scientific research and operational applications in the field of weather and climate forecasting in China, and broadened horizons, thus offering valuable assistance in future research and operational efforts.
