Carnets are discharged when the goods listed for temporary exportation from India have been returned to India within expiry date of the carnet and there is documentary evidence to that effect. Carnets can be returned either by hand or by post.
- The ATA Carnet with all pages issued should be returned to FICCI in original.
- All used counterfoils (particularly the re-exportation counterfoil) should be duly endorsed by the relevant customs authorities.
- To discharge the liability of an ATA carnet, proof of re-exportation of goods covered under it, has to be submitted.
- Proof of payment of applicable duty on goods sold and covered by ATA Carnet, if any, has to be submitted.
- Please note non-fulfillment of discharge obligation of a carnet can cause forfeiture of the security deposit, besides other procedures as per law.
Provided there is no evidence of the carnet entering into dispute, the security deposit will be released as soon as possible on basis of an Indemnity Bond (Download format of Indemnity Bond.doc).
