Two people were killed and 12 others are missing after a mountain flood and mudslide disaster occurred in Sichuan province and destroyed some houses at a village in Kangding city, according to a report by China Media Group. The details of the disaster are currently being further verified, it said.

The disaster also left another five people missing after an expressway bridge collapsed in Ganzi Tibetan autonomous prefecture of Sichuan, where three vehicles carrying six passengers fell off, according to local media Ganzi Daily.

In the early morning on Saturday, the bridge between two tunnels along Yakang Expressway from Kangding city to Luding county collapsed due to the sudden mountain flood and mudslide.

As of 11 am, it was confirmed that one of the six persons had been rescued and the rest were still missing.

After the disaster, the local government is carrying out all-out rescue efforts, with multiple teams under operations at the scene.
