On July 1, 2024, at the invitation of the government of Panama, Special Envoy of President Xi Jinping and Minister of the General Administration of Customs Yu Jianhua attended the inauguration of President of Panama Jose Raul Mulino in Panama City, the capital of Panama. Jose Raul Mulino had a brief meeting with Yu Jianhua on the margins of the inauguration.

Yu Jianhua conveyed President Xi Jinping's warm congratulations and best wishes to Jose Raul Mulino. He said that since the establishment of diplomatic relations seven years ago, China-Panama relations have grown rapidly and produced fruitful results, bringing tangible benefits to the two peoples. China is ready to work with Panama to enhance political mutual trust, deepen mutually beneficial cooperation, and promote the sustained and in-depth growth of China-Panama relations, so as to deliver more benefits to the two peoples.

Jose Raul Mulino thanked President Xi Jinping for sending the special envoy to attend his inauguration and asked Yu Jianhua to convey his cordial greetings and best wishes to President Xi Jinping. Jose Raul Mulino said that Panama attaches great importance to its relationship with China and stands ready to further deepen cooperation with China in various fields, so as to constantly lift Panama-China relations to a higher level.
