The inaugural display of the "ACE! Australian Comics Exhibition" in China landed in Chengdu, Southwest China's Sichuan Province on January 27.
The exhibition aims to deepen the integration of Chinese and Australian cultures and promote cultural exchanges between the two nations, according to a post by the Australian Embassy in China.
Australian Consul General in Chengdu, Adelle Neary, delivered a speech during the opening ceremony, stating that the exhibition showcases Australia's finest and most original comic artworks. Chengdu, known for its artistic charm and recognized as one of China's trendiest cities, was a fitting choice for ACE!'s first exhibition in China.
A highlight of the opening ceremony was the introduction of the exhibition's mascot, koala Casey. Casey, adorned in casual attire reflecting the typical Aussie style, featuring yellow and blue symbolizing the beach and sea.
During the opening ceremony, two Australian artists presented three special offline activities, including a masterclass in comic creation and two children's painting workshops.
Over 100 guests participated in the event. The exhibition will run until February 29.
