7/1999

"Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames Awards" made its debut, receiving enthusiastic response from the industry.

12/1999

Presentation Ceremony of the 1999 Award was officiated by Mr Chow Tak Hay, Secretary for Commerce and Industry.

7/2000

"The Most Popular Brandname On-line" was newly introduced; and public polling was first introduced such that the public could participate in On-site Polling at the venue of the Hong Kong Products Expo and On-line Polling at the "HKBPE On-line" website. The 2000 Award was solely sponsored by Dah Sang Bank.

3/2001

A seminar on "Marketing Strategy - Brandname Building and Maintaining" was organised. Representatives from Award winners, professionals and academic were invited to share experience.

7/2001

"The Emerging Brandname Award" was first introduced in the 2001 Award.

1/2002

Mr Antony Leung, Financial Secretary officiated the Presentation Ceremony of the 2001 Award.

7/2002

"Honorary Award" was newly introduced in the 2002 Award to give recognition to "veteran entries" (past winners of the Award) exhibiting continuously superior performance. The 2002 Award was sponsored by "German Tops" and the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park Corporation.

11/2002

Jointly organised by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong (the CMA), Shenzhen Municipal Government, China Federation of Industrial Economics, and the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, the "China Brandname Strategy International Forum cum China Top Brand Commodities Expo" was held at Shenzhen.

1/2003

The Presentation Ceremony of 2002 Award was officiated by Mr Henry Tang, Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology (represented by Ms Denise Yue, Permanent Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology (CI)).

3/2003

Sponsored by the SME Development Fund of Trade and Industry Department, a research project namely "Enhancing Competitiveness of SMEs Through Best-practice Business Process Benchmarking" was implemented. In-depth studies were conducted on over 20 Award winners to conceptualise their best practices and brand-building experiences and to translate them into a benchmarking system applicable to local SMEs.Sponsored by the SME Development Fund of Trade and Industry Department, a research project namely "Enhancing Competitiveness of SMEs Through Best-practice Business Process Benchmarking" was implemented. 7/2003

The Survey on CMA Members' Brand Development Strategies was conducted to grasp the current status of members' brand development, keep abreast of their future plan and branding strategies, and solicit their viewpoints on brand development. It received 216 responses from member companies.

10/2003

The maiden edition of "The Parade of Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames" was published and distributed to the public via various channels. It was highly appreciated by the community.

1/2004

Mr Stephen Ip, Acting Financial Secretary officiated the Presentation Ceremony of the 2003 Award. During the Ceremony, Dr Jose Yu, President of the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong, announced that the preparation for the establishment of "Hong Kong Brand Development Council" (the BDC) was under way.

1/2004 - 2/2004

Awardees were invited to showcase at the "Brandnames Areas" of the "Promotion Week for CEPA of Mainland, Hong Kong & Macau", which toured around Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, and was jointly organised by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade, InvestHK of the HKSAR Government and the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute.

5/2004 - 6/2004

Products of selected awardees were showcased at the "Brandnames and Premium Area" of the "Chongqing - Hong Kong Week" at Chongqing, jointly organised by the HKSAR Government and the Chongqing Municipal People's Government.

6/2004

"The Parade of Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames" (2004) was published. Besides enlarged the book size and incresed publishing quantity, a new column "Branding Classified" were first introduced.

9/2004

A re-branding campaign was orchestrated to enhance the Award through three major new initiatives, i.e. renaming of the Award, introduction of new logo, and the implementation of "Hong Kong Top Brand Mark Scheme".

10/2004 - 11/2004

Products of some awardees were showcased at the "Product Exhibition" of "Tianjin - Hong Kong Week" at Tianjin, organised by the HKSAR Government and the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.

1/2005

Mr Henry Tang, Financial Secretary officiated the Presentation Ceremony of the 2004 Award.

5/2005

Initiated by the CMA, the Hong Kong Brand Development Council was formed and the first General Committee Meeting was convened. In August 2005, the BDC held a grand ceremony to celebrate its inauguration.

6/2005

Products of some Aardees were showcased at the "Heibei-Hong Kong Week" at Heibei, organised by the HKSAR Government; and some Awardees were invited to showcase at the "Top Brand Area" of the "2005 Hong Kong Brands & Products Expo, Qingdao" at Qingdao, organised by the Chinese Manufacturers' Association of Hong Kong.

7/2005

Hong Kong Top Brand Awards became a joint project of the BDC and the CMA. The Organisers held a press conference in 2005 July to announce the launch of the "Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards", as a new initiative to recognise the outstanding brands in Hong Kong's service sector. The 2005 Service Brand Awards received extraordinary response and 12 local brands were selected as the winners in January 2006.

8/2005

Since the 2005 edition, "The Parade of Hong Kong Top Ten Brandnames" has been renamed "The Parade of Hong Kong Top Brands".

9/2005

Products of some Awardees were showcased at the "2005 Hong Kong Brands & Products Expo, Shanghai" organised by the CMA in Shanghai. The BDC also hosted the "Shanghai-Hong Kong Branding Forum" at the Expo.
In Hong Kong, the "Branding to Win Serial Seminar" was launched as a public forum for Awardees and experts from a wide range of professional arenas to exchange views on branding from different perspectives. The first seminar focused on "Strategies for Hong Kong Brands to Penetrate into Chinese Market" and the second seminar was held in April 2006 under the theme of "Effective Marking Strategies for Brand-building".

11/2005 - 12/2005

Selected Awardees joined the showcase at "Hubei-Hong Kong Week" in Wuhan organised by the HKSAR Government, as well as the "Innovation and Design Expo" in Hong Kong and "Style Hong Kong, Chengdu" in Chengdu organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

1/2006

The 2006 Hong Kong Top Brand Awards and Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Mr Henry Tang.

2/2006

Official indications of "Top Mark" including tent card, labels and pin were first introduced to facilitate the promotion of Licensees of "Hong Kong Top Brand Mark Scheme".

5/2006

The BDC dispatched a delegation to the 7th Western China International Economy and Trade Fair and information boards of the Awards were displayed at the Fair.

8/2006

"Branding to Win Seminar: Quality Customer Service" was organised, in which professional consultants and some Awardees shared their experience in providing quality customer services.

9/2006

Products of some Awardees were showcased at the "2006 Life Style Hong Kong – Shenyang", organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Selected Awardees joined the showcase at "2006 Hong Kong Brands & Products Expo, Shanghai", organised by the CMA in Shanghai.

11/2006 - 12/2006

BDC and TDC co-organised the "SME Brand Building Workshop" at the "2006 SME World Expo", which focused on strategies of promoting, managing and developing brands. Besides representatives of Awardees, experts from a wide range of professional arenas were invited to share views.

1/2007

The 2006 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by the Secretary for Commerce, Industry and Technology, Mr Joseph Wong.

7/2007

To celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR, the CMA and the BDC jointly organised a luncheon and the "Hong Kong Brand Development Forum". The Forum was one of the celebration events listed in the 10th Anniversary celebration programs of the HKSAR.

12/2007

Since 2005, the BDC had participated in the "Inno Design Tech Expo" every year and set up showcase to display products of Top Mark licensees.
For three consecutive years, the BDC and TDC co-organised the "Branding Workshop Series" at the Expo, where experts and representatives of Awardees were invited to share views on brand development and promotion.

The 2007 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Mr John Tsang.

3/2008

Co-organised by the BDC and "Wen Wei Po", "Brand Story@Hong Kong" Series consisting of 30 episodes were published on the newpaper during the period of March to December 2008.

4/2008

Under the arrangement of the BDC, products of Top Mark licensees were showcased at the "103rd China Import and Export Fair" in Guangzhou.

6/2008

The fourth "Branding to Win Serial Seminar" was organised under the banner of "Brand Communication and Image", in which academic, professional consultants and industrial practitioners shared views on the ways to build up brand images and implement effective brand communications.

7/2008

The BDC held a press conference to announce the activities in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong Top Brand Awards, including the introduction of an honorary award – "Hong Kong Top Brand Ten Year Achievement Award".

9/2008 - 10/2008

Products of Awardees were showcased at the "12th China International Fair for Investment and Trade" and "105th China Import and Export Fair" (Canton Fair).

Since 2005, the BDC had participated in the "Inno Design Tech Expo" every year and set up showcase to display products of Top Mark licensees.

Products of Awardees were showcased a number of exhibitions held in Mainland China, including "Hong Kong Consumer Products Expo, Guangzhou" and "Style Hong Kong in Wuhan 2009" organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council, "105th China Import and Export Fair", and "2009 Hong Kong-Shenzhen Brands & Products Expo".

The fifth "Branding to Win Serial Seminar" was organised under the banner of "Brand Strategy for tapping into Mainland Market", in which academic, professional consultants and industrial practitioners shared views on the opportunity and challenges faced by Hong Kong brands in the Mainland market.

"The Parade of Hong Kong Top Brands Gallary" was set up in the Hong Kong International Airport to promote the Awardees and showcase products of 16 winning brands during the period of June to November 2009.
The BDC and "Wen Wei Po" co-organised a Launching Ceremony to mark the publication of a new book namely "Brand Stories@Hong Kong", which was officiated by Mr Gregory So, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development; and the ceremony was followed by the "Luncheon in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of Hong Kong Top Brand Awards".

Products of selected Top Mark Licensees were showcased a number of exhibitions held in Hong Kong and Mailand China, including "Hong Kong Lifestyle Showcase", "The 13th China International Fair for Investment & Trade" and "106th China Import and Export Fair".

Products of Top Mark Licensees were showcased at "Hong Kong Consumer Products Expo, Guangzhou" and "Style Hong Kong Show in Fuzhou" held by Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Participated in "The 21st China Harbin International Fair for Trade and Economic Cooperation".

"Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards & Hong Kong Emerging Service Brand Awards" was introduced to give recognition to young up-and-coming brandnames established by Hong Kong companies. 10 brands were selected by the first batch winners in January 2011.

9/2010

Products of Top Mark Licensees were showcased at "Expo Central China 2010" in Jiangxi.

1/2011

The Presentation Ceremony of 2010 "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards & Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards & Hong Kong Emerging Service Brand Awards" was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon John Tsang.

8/2011 & 5/2012

Products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at the "Style Hong Kong Show in Harbin" and "Style Hong Kong Show in Xian".

1/2012

The Presentation Ceremony of 2011 "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards & Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards & Hong Kong Emerging Service Brand Awards" was officiated by Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Prof K C Chan.

4/2012

Under the sponsorship of the SME Development Fund, the BDC organised the "Wuhan Hong Kong Brand Week" Serial Activities. A showcase namely "Brand Hong Kong – Stylish Gallery" was set up at the Wuhan International Conference & Exhibition Center from 28 April to 2 May 2012 to display products of selected Top Brand Awardees and over 50 Hong Kong SME brands.

Products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at the "2012 Hong Kong Trendy Products Expo, Naijing" and "The 14th China Chain Store Expo".

2/2013

Officiated by Financial Secretary Hon John Tsang, the 2012 Awards Presentation Ceremony was hosted in form of a Gala Dinner featuring over 700 distinguished guests.

4/2013

Under the sponsorship of the BUD Fund, the BDC organised the "Xiamen Hong Kong Brand Festival" Serial Activities. A showcase namely "Brand Hong Kong – Stylish Gallery" was set up at the Xiamen International Conference & Exhibition Center from 27 April to 2 May 2013 to display products and brand details of selected Top Brand Awardees and 100 Hong Kong SME brands.

The BDC released findings of the Survey on Southern Fujian Consumers' Perception of Hong Kong Brands and Purchasing Behaviour.

8/2013 - 10/2013

Products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at the "Style Hong Kong Show" organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Qingdao, Changchun and Changsha.

The 2012 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon John Tsang, followed by a Gala Dinner with over 600 distinguished guests.

2014

Under the sponsorship of the BUD Fund, the BDC organised the "Chongqing Hong Kong Brand Festival" and "Harbin Hong Kong Brand Festival". Showcase Galleries on the theme of "'Love.Loving Hong Kong' Wedding Brand Ring" and "'Lovely.Loving Hong Kong' Brand Frontline" were set up in the two cities to display products and information of over 90 Hong Kong brands.

7/2014

As a signature programme to celebrate the BDC's 10th anniversary, "2014 Hong Kong Top Service Brand Awards" introduced the honorary category "Ten Year Achievement Award".

Products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at the "Style Hong Kong Show" organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Wuhan and Nanjing.

The 2014 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon John Tsang and Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Hon Gregory So, followed by the "BDC 10th Anniversary Gala Dinner" with over 700 distinguished guests.

6/2015

Under the sponsorship of the BUD Fund, the BDC organised the "Tianjin Hong Kong Brand Festival". Showcase Galleries on the theme of "'Deary.Loving Hong Kong' Brand Garden" and "'Lovely.Loving Hong Kong' Brand Frontline" were set up in Tianjin to display products of 90 Hong Kong brands.

8/2015

The BDC and "Hong Kong Economic Times" co-organised a book launching ceremony to mark the publication of a new book titled "Hong Kong Brands: New‧Classics", which was officiated by Acting Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Mr Godfrey Leung.

Products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at the "Style Hong Kong Show in Chang Chun", "Style Hong Kong Show in Cheng Zhou", "In Style‧Hong Kong" Expo in Jakarta, Indonesia and "Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo" in Dubai, U.A.E.

The 2015 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon John Tsang, followed by the "BDC Gala Dinner" with over 700 distinguished guests.

8/2016

Under the sponsorship of the BUD Fund, the BDC organised the "Dalian+ Hong Kong Brand Festival". Showcase Galleries on the theme of "'Hong Kong Brand +' Interactive Experience Camp"and "'Hong Kong Brand + Dynamic Lifestyle' Experience Zone" were set up in Dalian to display products of  over 110 Hong Kong brands.

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at trade fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, including "Style Hong Kong Show in Ningbo" and "Lifestyle Expo" in Dubai.

The 2016 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon Paul Chan, followed by the "BDC Gala Dinner" with closed to 700 distinguished guests.

6/2017 - 7/2017

Under the sponsorship of the BUD Fund, the BDC organised the "Hong Kong Brand Festival ‧ Beijing" Series Activities, after successfully staging "Hong Kong Brand Festival" in Xiamen, Chongqing, Harbin, Tianjin and Dalian. An image gallery namely "Branding: To Do Hong Kong Proud" together with a thematic zone "Celebration! The Parade of Hong Kong Brands" were set up at the National Agriculture Exhibition Centre from 27 June to 2 July 2017 to display products and information of over 130 Hong Kong brands.

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at trade fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, including "Style Hong Kong Pavilion in Changchun" and "Lifestyle Expo in Dubai".

The BDC and "Hong Kong Economic Times" co-organised an e-book launching ceremony to mark the release of an e-book titled "Branding: To Do Hong Kong Proud", which was officiated by Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development Dr Bernard Chan.

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at trade fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, including "Style Hong Kong Pavilion in Chengdu" , "Style Hong Kong Pavilion in Fuzhou" and "Hong Kong Lifestyle Expo in Mumbai India".

The 2018 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon Paul Chan, followed by a Gala Dinner with around 700 distinguished guests.

The Hong Kong Distinguished Brand Leader Award was introduced to give recognition to Hong Kong entrepreneurs for the remarkable achievements in brand-building and contributions towards the development of Hong Kong brands.

8/2019 & 1/2020

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of "Hong Kong Top Brand Awards" and "Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards" were showcased at trade fairs organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, including "Style Hong Kong Pavilion in Changchun", "China (Guangdong) – Vietnam Import & Export Fair" and "Chic HK|Guangzhou".

7/2020 - 10/2020

As a deliverable of “Hong Kong.IN.Brand Greater Bay” Project, the BDC commissioned a research team to conduct “Survey on the Attitude towards Hong Kong Brands and Purchasing Behaviour of Greater Bay Area Consumers” in 10 GBA cities, with over 1,700 consumers sampled for face-to-face interviews.

9/2020

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of “Hong Kong Top Brand Awards” and “Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards” were showcased at “Style Hong Kong Pavilion in Nanning” organised by Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

6/2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2019 and 2020 Awards Presentation Ceremony were postponed, and a combined ceremony was held in June 2021, which was officiated by the Financial Secretary Hon Paul Chan, with the presence of about 700 distinguished guests.

8/2022

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2021 Awards Presentation Ceremony was postponed to Aug 2022, which was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon Paul Chan, with the presence of about 300 distinguished guests.

2/2023

The 2022 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Financial Secretary Hon Paul Chan followed by a Gala Dinner with near 600 distinguished guests.

4/2023

Under the sponsorship of the Trade and Industrial Organisation Support Fund, the BDC implemented "Hong Kong.IN.Brand Greater Bay" serial activities; and the "Macao Brandfest", which consisted of a specially-designed brand image gallery and interactive experience camps, was held in parallel with the "5th Hong Kong Brands and Products Expo, Macao" from 7 to 10 April 2023. Centering on three thematic elements, i.e. "Innovation Technology", "Vibrance" and "Quality Living", Macao Brandfest showcased some 50 products of 20 brands.

Under the coordination of the BDC, products of winners of “Hong Kong Top Brand Awards” and “Hong Kong Emerging Brand Awards” were showcased at “Think Business, Think Hong Kong 2023 in Bangkok” organised by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council.

The 2023 Awards Presentation Ceremony was officiated by Deputy Financial Secretary Hon Michael Wong followed by a Gala Dinner with near 600 distinguished guests.
