On June 18, 2024, Chinese Ambassador to Canada H.E. Wang Di met with Ms. Beth Potter, President and CEO of Tourism Industry Association of Canada, and Mr. Michael Crockatt, CEO of Ottawa Tourism, in the Chinese Embassy.

Ambassador Wang stressed that China and Canada have close exchanges and cooperation in tourism, which plays an important role in promoting people-to-people exchanges between the two countries. Recently, the UN General Assembly adopted the Resolution proposed by China to establish June 10 as the International Day for Dialogue among Civilizations. China would like to take this opportunity to work with Canada to implement the Global Civilization Initiative, strengthen exchanges and mutual learning, enhance tourism cooperation, and inject vitality into China-Canada relations. China hopes that Canada can provide more facilitation to Chinese tourists and stronger protection for their safety and legitimate rights and interests.

Ms. Potter and Mr. Crockatt congratulated and welcomed Ambassador Wang and spoke highly of Canada-China relations. They said that they were happy to promote tourism cooperation between the two countries and would talk and work with other departments of Canada to provide more facilitation for people-to-people exchanges between China and Canada.
