Chinese Ambassador Xu Feihong Attends 2024 India Finals and Award Ceremony of “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students and Secondary School Students

On June 15, the India Finals and Award Ceremony of 2024 "Chinese Bridge" Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreign College Students and Secondary School Students were held in New Delhi. Chinese Ambassador to India H.E. Xu Feihong attended and delivered a speech. Professor Surekha Dangwal, Vice-chancellor of Doon University, India, Ms. Mallika Preman, Principle of Tagore International School, Professor Avijit Banerjee, Sinologist and Head  of Cheena Bhavana of Visva-Bharati University, Dr. Parveen Gupta, General Secretary of India-China Friendship Association in Delhi, attended the event and spoke. More than 100 people attended the event, including Minister Ma Jia, Minister Counselor Wang Xinming and Counselor Yang Xiuhua of the Embassy, finalists, heads of Chinese language department in 16 universities in India, local Chinese teachers, teachers and students from universities in Delhi, representatives of Chinese enterprises and friends from all sectors. Ambassador Xu Feihong unveiled the  "Photo exhibition on the Centenary of Rabindranath Tagore’s visit to China" on site.

This year’s “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competition for College Students and Secondary School Students attracted nearly 60 students from more than 20 universities and schools in India. After successive selections and preliminary round, 7 college students and 6 Secondary school students were shortlisted for the finals.

After Chinese speech, talent show and Knowledgequiz competitions, Oinam Thoithoi Chanu from Dhanamanjuri University in Manipur (recommended by India-China Academy) won the university categorychampionship, and Juee Vaidya from St. Mira's College, Pune, Mahatrashtra (recommended by YinYang Center for Chinese Language) won the first prize in the secondary school category, and they will represent the Indian division in the global finals.
