The UNICEF-WHO-World Bank joint child malnutrition estimates (‎JME)‎ standard methodology: tracking progress on SDG indicators 2.2.1 on stunting, 2.2.2 (‎1)‎ on overweight and 2.2.2 (‎2)‎ on wasting

Overview

WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank launched the “Joint Malnutrition Estimates Standard Methodology”. The Joint Child Malnutrition Estimates (JME) group composed of WHO, UNICEF and the World Bank was created in 2011 to address the call for harmonized child malnutrition estimates. The inter-agency team releases annual estimates for child stunting, overweight, underweight, wasting and severe wasting.

The JME now releases a document highlighting the main methodological steps used to generate national, regional and global estimates, from identifying nationally representative data sources to the generation of modelled estimates and consultation by countries for submission to SDG 2.2.1 and 2.2.2 reporting.

This document supersedes the previous methodological aspects published in the2012 Levels and trends in child malnutrition 1990-2011.
